Natural Attractions in Iligan

There are many natural attractions, which surround the area of Iligan City; there are the majestic water falls, caves, and mountains.

Maria Cristina Falls

    Maria Cristina Falls is a popular landmark of the city and sometimes synonymous to the word Iligan. It is known as the source of hydroelectric power that lights the cities of Mindanao. It is located in Barangay Maria Cristina, 8.5 kilometers from the city. The Maria Cristina Falls stands grandly 320 feet high. The volume of the water is 100 cubic meter per second. When the cascading water strikes at the base it creates a pressure of 224 pounds per square inch. The falls is not only very beautiful but it is full of myths and legends.

Tinago Falls

    Tinago Falls is one of the most beautiful falls in the country. “Tinago” means hidden. As the name implies, it is indeed hidden by nature in a deep ravine covered by trees and other wild vegetation. The falls is 420 feet high. One has to go downhill and follow the winding trail to take a look. It is located in Barangay Ditucalan, 13 kilometers from the city center.

Mimbalut Falls

Mimbalut Falls is located 11 kilometers away from city center in Barangay Buru-un. The falls stands 90 feet and 18 feet wide.

Limusudan Falls

     It is a two-tiered falls and one of the country’s highest waterfalls which is 870 feet high. It is found in the forest of Barangay Rogongon, 27 kilometers away from the city and can be reached by local transportation. However, the falls is accessible only by foot.

Dodiongan Falls

     It is 66 feet high and 14.5 kilometers away from the center of the city. Its water flow cascades down a concrete-like boulder and the pool at its foot is ideal for swimming.

Timoga Springs

    The most distinguished springs in the city because of its crystal clear cold flowing water. It is located in Barangay Buru-un which is 9 kilometers from the city proper.

Ditucalan Spring

     It supplies the bulk of the city’s drinking water. Located in Barangay Ditucalan and 11 kilometers from the city.

Abaga Spring

    It is tapped for potable waer for the city’s water system. Its origin is Balo-I, Lanao del Norte and passes through Barangay Suarez.

Hindang Cave

    A cave complex with 6-8 caves, with big entrance and beautifically formed stalactites and stalagmites inside its chamber and it is located at Brgy. Hindang, 31 kms. from the city.

Mt. Agad-Agad

    A mountain which has an estimated height 1,600 ft. above sea level. It affords a full view of Iligan City by night or day, ideal for the adventurous type, hikers and mountaineers. It is located at Brgy. Puga-an
